2008 - 2009 - Krewe of St. Andrews Event Calendar

Welcome to the Krewe of St. Andrews' home on the web! Here you'll find plenty of information about the Krewe, Mardi Gras, and the upcoming celebration!

Mardi Gras in St. Andrews

The St. Andrews Mardi Gras had its beginnings in 1997, when Bay County’s first Mardi Gras Krewe, the Krewe of Dominique Youx, approached the Community of St. Andrews with the idea of relocating its annual parade from Bay Point to St. Andrews. This was a “dream” turned “reality” for a revitalization event as defined in the completed St. Andrews Visioning Project, and so began the work of the citizens of St. Andrews to make the St. Andrews Mardi Gras the success it is today.

As enthusiasm grew so did the plans, and the St. Andrews citizens soon formed their own Krewe, now proudly known as the Krewe of St. Andrews, the Krewe now has members form all over Bay County. That first year the St. Andrews Mardi Gras Parade featured the Krewe of Dominique Youx and the newly formed Krewe of St. Andrews. After that first successful afternoon, the plans grew even more; and now the event has expanded into a huge multiple day festival in addition to the parade.

The Krewe of St. Andrews and the St. Andrews Mardi Gras always has and always will focus on the community and family. This is reflected in the abundance of family-oriented activities such as a special “Kids’ Parade.” The overall atmosphere of the Festival and Parade is to attract fun-loving people of all ages.

The Krewe of St. Andrews gives back to the community by contributing to several local charities and to local colleges for scholarships. In 2007, $3,600.00 was awarded to the following charities and colleges.

Boys and Girls Club, Margaret K. Lewis School, Girls, Inc., Haney Technical Center, FSU Panama City, and Gulf Coast Community College. This money was raised through a fundraiser with the use of Scampy's restaurant and the members of the Krewe, in addition to the funds raised at the Annual St. Andrew Golf Tournament sponsored by the Krewe.

The parade of course will have numerous Krewes with fantastically decorated floats. As the marching bands entertain along the route, Krewe members will toss by the thousands the eagerly awaited beads and doubloons to over 80,000 spectators.

This is a splendid celebration that brings people together from all over the southeast and showcases the wonderful Community of Historic St. Andrews. Come join us at the St. Andrews Mardi Gras Festival and Parade on Feb. 20th and 21st, 2009; you won’t want to miss it. Don’t forget Andrews Mardi Gras is Bay County’s Original Mardi Gras Festival and Parade, voted “Best of Bay” for 9 Years.
